Grilled Pork Chops

Summertime means grill time—and cooking outdoors keeps the house cooler. The secret to grilling an entire meal is simple recipes, such as these easy pork chops. Just baste on the homemade sauce to imbue the chops with flavor. If desired, add Grilled Sweet Corn and Grilled Sweet Potatoes for sides.

Makes 6 servings

  • ⅓ cup water
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 whole green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 large pork chops, cut 1½ inches thick

In a small saucepan combine water, brown sugar, ketchup, hoisin sauce, mustard, vinegar, butter, onions and garlic. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes or until the consistency of barbecue sauce. Grill pork chops on an uncovered grill over high heat about 8 minutes per side, basting both sides with sauce until pork is tender and the chops are brown.
