Made with cream-style corn as the base, this broth is flavored with vegetables and seasonings. It’s savory enough to enjoy on its own, but it shines as the base to Corn Chowder and other soups.

Ingredients

  • 7 cups water
  • 1 (14.75-ounce) can cream-style corn
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and halved
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • ¼ cup whole peppercorns
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp kosher salt

Directions

  1. In a large pot combine water and cream-style corn. Add onion, celery, peppercorns, garlic, bay leaf and salt. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. Cool and strain before using; discard solids.
