Paper Flowers

Materials

  • Green tissue paper, or preferred color
  • Floral wire
  • White tissue paper, or preferred color
  • Colored tissue paper, if desired

Step 1

Gather the necessary supplies. For a basic white flower, you need only green and white tissue paper. In corporate additional colors, if desired.

Materials

  • Green tissue paper, or preferred color
  • Floral wire
  • White tissue paper, or preferred color
  • Color tissue paper, if desired

  • Floral tape
  • Scissors
  • Transparent tape

Step 2

Cut small pieces of green tissue paper (or desired flower center color). Roll the pieces into tight round balls with your fingers. Create one for each flower.

Step 3

Poke floral wire into the rolled center from Step 2 to create the stem. Cut a 1x2-inch rectangle of green tissue paper and cover the rolled end of the stem and twist securely.

Step 4

Start at the base of the rolled stem end and wrap four laters of floral tape along the top 2 inches of the stem, covering the tissue paper ends from Step 3.

Step 5

Cut white tissue paper (or desired color) into 2-inch circles for petals. To create a basic flower, cut five circles. Increase or decrease petal size and quantity as desired.

Pinch one petal at the edge of the circle, making small pleats in the petal. Repeat for remaining petals.

Align pinched portion of a petal on stem below flower center. Use floral tape to secure petal to stem, wrapping tightly. Repeat with remaining petals, evenly spacing them around flower center.

When flower is complete, add transparent tape to underside of petals for extra support, if needed.

To add a leaf, cut an oblong shape from green tissue paper. Fold leaf in half. Unfold and attach to the stem with floral tape.

Embellish flowers as desired. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut petal edges or use two petal colors for each flower.

Instructions

Lay paper flowers on the floor to determine flower placement. When final design is determined, apply each flower to wall securely with tape. Adjust flower positions as needed.

  • Colored cardstock
  • Glue stick
  • Transparent tape

Print Party Hat template onto colored cardstock. Cut out along solid lines. Cut slit in hat. Insert tab in slit. Secure with glue, if desired. 

Apply paper flowers to hat with tape. Trim stems, if needed. If desired, poke a small hole on either side of the hat base. Run a piece of elastic cording through both holes and secure.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 250ºF. Place clean eggshell on a baking or jelly-roll sheet and bake for 15 minutes to sterilize and dry out. 

Set eggshell in egg cup. Place paper flowers in eggshell. Secure stems with hot glue, if desired.

Instructions

Apply hot glue to the headband in desired location. Secure paper flower to the hot glue and gently press. Wrap the flower stem around the headband two times. Hot-glue wire stem to headband. Trim excess stem with scissors.

  • Transparent tape

Instructions

Fill gift box; place box upside down and centered onto ribbon.  Bring ribbon ends toward the box base. At box center, twist ribbon and change direction. Keeping the twist in place, turn box over and bring ribbon ends to the top of the package. Tie into a knot. 

Use transparent tape to secure paper flowers on top of knot.
