Spiced Cranberry-Pomegranate Mulled Cider

If planning an outdoor activity this winter, a cup of Spiced Cranberry-Pomegranate Mulled Cider warms hands as guests enjoy it. Use insulated pots, self-heating servers or warming plates to keep drinks hot in the outdoor chill.

Makes 16 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 gallon fresh pressed pasteurized 100% apple cider
  • ½ cup pomegranate arils
  • 1 pomegranate, split in half
  • 1 blood orange, sliced
  • 2 tbsp orange blossom honey
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tbsp whole allspice
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 star anise

Directions

  1. Cut ¼ cup cranberries in half, if desired. In a 4-quart stockpot or Dutch oven, combine cut and whole cranberries, apple cider, pomegranate arils, split pomegranate, blood orange slices, honey, cinnamon sticks, allspice, vanilla and star anise.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat; reduce heat. Gently simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours.
