True Love

Each of us is created in the image of God. We are each unique. He chose our DNA, how we are knitted together and the way we look. He was intentional when he created us and gives us a purpose. He asks that we love others, as He loves.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.”
Psalms 139:13–5 NIV

Humans share many things in common such as body design. We each have a heart, lungs, eyes, ears, etc. We have similar capacities, such as ability to think, reason and make decisions. However, God created each of us unique. We each have our own characteristics, personality, desires, strengths and weaknesses. No two of us are alike because God created each of us with a unique purpose and destiny in mind. He knows us from the inside out. He even determined the number of days we each will live.

So why are we here? Ephesians 1:11–12 clearly states that we exist to bring glory to God. We are invited to have a personal, eternal relationship with Him, according to John 3:1.

When we become Christians, we agree to serve God and He gives each of us spiritual gifts through the Holy Spirit. He uses the Holy Spirit, Scripture and life experiences to shape us, to mold us into our best selves and to be like Jesus Christ.

We will all go through suffering and trials on this earth, but these things serve to mature us as Christ followers. They help us to fulfill God’s plan.

As mature Christians, we develop the ability to look beyond our selfishness and understand true love—not the world's false idea of love, but agape love—a love that sacrifices just as the Savior sacrificed when He died for our sins.

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.”
1 John 4:7–9 ESV
