Fruit-and-veggie juicing is part of a healthy weight-loss diet, says Cherie Calbom, MS, author of The Juice Lady’s Turbo Diet.

Beet-Ginger Cleansing Cocktail, above left
This nutrient-dense combo helps your body get rid of toxins that cause you to gain weight, Calbom says.

Makes 1 to 2 servings

  • 3 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, ends trimmed
  • 1 cucumber, peeled if not organic
  • 1 beet with stem and leaves, scrubbed well
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 handful parsley
  • 1- to 2-inch chunk gingerroot, scrubbed or peeled
  • 1 lemon peeled

Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice all ingredients and stir. Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.

Green Refresher, above center
For energy, drink at least two 10- to 12-ounce glasses of veggie juice each day as part of your diet.

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 medium to large organic cucumber, peeled if not organic
  • 1 large leaf of green kale
  • 1–2 stalks celery
  • 1 lemon or lime, peeled

Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.

Spicy Pink Morning, above right
Dramatically increase your intake of fruits and vegetables by juicing.

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 large pink grapefruit, peeled
  • 1-inch piece fresh gingerroot, peeled

Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.
