Finding Peace

We are told in the Bible there will be trouble on Earth and we can overcome it. Follow Paul’s advice to the Thessalonians to “pray without ceasing.” This means that you surrender to God, turning every scary, angry, fearful, discouraged or other negative thought over to Him and thank Him for being in control. Practice this until it’s like breathing. You don’t think about it. It becomes, in a sense, as natural as the nervous system regulating the body.

Train yourself to pray immediately when trouble comes. Not necessarily with your knees planted on the ground or your head bowed, but as you talk to a friend, while walking to work or folding laundry. It’s an attitude of surrender to God, knowing He is in control, present, hearing your thoughts and knowing your actions. He is actively engaged in our lives and He loves and cares for us. He wants us to depend on Him–and incessant prayer is essential for peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27 NIV
