Dress Up

Three IKEA hacks come together to make one practical, beautiful and space-efficient work space. Get ready for church, write letters and stay organized with this inexpensive project that feels high-end.

On the Surface to create more usable workspace, we replaced casters on a three-drawer cabinet with custom attached legs, raising the unit to desk height. Then we tucked it next to a small vanity of the same height and depth. A large-scale photograph printed at a copy center and placed under the glass on the vanity adds beauty. Small tweaks give these furniture warehouse pieces a designer look.

Drawer Makeover with a combined total of four drawers between the two furniture pieces, there’s enough storage for makeup, hair products, styling tools and office supplies. To add more style, we painted the inside of the vanity drawer and the handles of the cabinet drawers. Acrylic organizers keep everything in place. Heat-resistant lining provides a safe home for hair tools. The result? A multifunctional and attractive personal vanity and workspace for minimal cost.

Have A Seat A basic padded stool takes on a touch of glam with gold legs and a furry seat. This soft, pretty stool tucks under the vanity when not in use. The best thing about this makeover? It took us less than 30 minutes from start to finish!
